HENDERSON, KY, December 20, 2023– Trash collection in the City of Henderson, recycling pick-up and services at the landfill/transfer station will be operating on a different schedule on the weeks of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
For Christmas, City employees will be observing the holiday on Monday, December 25th and Tuesday, December 26th.
The residential trash collection schedule for the week of the Christmas holiday is:
- Monday, December 25th and Tuesday, December 26th: No trash pickup. Landfill is closed.
- Wednesday, December 27th: Regular Monday and Tuesday Routes will be collected.
- Thursday, December 28th: Wednesday routes and Thursday routes that lie north of Dixon Street, Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, and O’Byrne Street will be collected.
- Friday, December 29th: Remainder of Thursday routes and Friday routes will be collected.
Trash pick-up begins at 6 a.m.
For New Year’s, City employees will be observing the holiday on Monday, January 1st.
The trash pick-up schedule on the week of the New Year will be:
- Monday, January 1st: No trash pickup. Landfill closed.
- Tuesday, January 2nd: Regular Monday routes and the portion of Tuesday routes that are north of Twelfth Street will be collected.
- Wednesday, January 3rd: Remainder of Tuesday routes and Wednesday routes will be collected.
- Thursday, January 4th and Friday, January 5th: Normal trash pickup.
The landfill/transfer station will be closed on Monday, January 1st and will reopen at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2nd.
Changes in the normal trash collection schedule are also posted on the City of Henderson web site, www.cityofhendersonky.org, both on the City Calendar and the Sanitation Department section. They are also posted on Facebook.
