Attorney General Coleman Appoints New Attorneys to Key Positions


FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 5, 2024) – Attorney General Russell Coleman has announced the appointment of three attorneys to key positions within the office to deliver on Kentuckians’ priorities.

Brystin Denguessi Kwin is Counsel to Deputy Attorney General Rob Duncan and Solicitor General Matt Kuhn. Denguessi Kwin, of Lexington, previously served as an Assistant Fayette County Attorney and later represented members of the Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police in the grievance process. Denguessi Kwin earned her juris doctor from University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law and her bachelor’s degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham.

“Brystin is a smart lawyer whose calling to serve Kentuckians is an outgrowth of her strong faith,” said General Coleman. “I’m thrilled for her to be a part of our team and directly support much of the invaluable work we do for the Commonwealth.”

Denise Durbin is Special Counsel to the Attorney General, where she will work closely with Senior Counsel Wil Schroder. Durbin, of Fort Thomas, previously served in the Attorney General’s office as Executive Director of the Office of Victim Advocacy and as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Campbell County. She also led the Crime Victim Project at the Children’s Law Center in Covington. She most recently was assistant dean and director of the University of Cincinnati College of Law’s Center for Professional Development. Durbin earned her juris doctor from University of Cincinnati College of Law and both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from University of Kentucky.

“With a deep commitment to serving victims of crime, especially the most vulnerable, Denise will be a major value-add as we protect families. I’m grateful she has returned to public service to help our office promote justice for all Kentuckians,” said General Coleman.

Jacob Abrahamson is Assistant Solicitor General. Abrahamson, of Louisville, previously clerked for U.S. Court of Appeals Judge for the Sixth Circuit John K. Bush and U.S. District Court Judge Danny C. Reeves. Abrahamson earned his juris doctor from University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and his bachelor’s degree from University of Louisville, where he previously was a McConnell Scholar.

“Our Solicitor General has attracted top talent to help Kentucky punch above our weight in the courtroom, and I’m grateful Jacob has joined this all-star team,” said General Coleman. “With his experience and passion for public service, Jacob will deliver well for Kentucky.”
