On Wednesday afternoon, February 14th, Colonels senior football player Yusef Sanogo-Kendrick signed to continue his academic and athletic career for the SouthEast Missouri State University (SEMO) Redhawks.

Sanogo-Kendrick talked about why SEMO was the best fit for him, “It just felt like home to me. It felt super comfortable. I’ve been there so many times prior to me committing there and they showed me a lot of love and support and it just felt like a home to me being there.”

Sanogo-Kendrick discussed his academic plans while attending SEMO, “I’m going to do mass communications. I want to be like a sports analyst, in sports media because its something that I love, it’s my passion, so something in that field.”

Sanogo-Kendrick discussed how it feels to be officially signed to be a college football player now, “It feels great, its a sense of relief. I spent a lot of time wondering where I was going to go, when it was going to come and just a sense of relief but I know I’m just now getting started so the real work begins so I’m excited.”

Sanogo-Kendrick talked about who he wanted to thank that made this day possible, “Thank God of course, without him none of this is possible. He put obstacles in my life that made me better. My parents of course, for putting me in this position, pushing me. Coaches, teammates, friends, just everybody came into the equation to make this possible.”

Sanogo-Kendrick discussed what attracted him to want to play college football at SEMO, “The environment there, playing football there is great. It’s a college town, they love football down there and just being down there on the gameday it (felt) like you (wanted) to play even though I couldn’t, so it feels great down there.”
