City of Henderson hires new Human Resources Director


HENDERSON, KY, February 27, 2024– Henderson native Megan McElfresh has been hired by the City of Henderson as its new Human Resources Director.

McElfresh is a 2009 graduate of Henderson County High School and a 2020 graduate of Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, where she majored in Human Services. She graduated in 2022 from Murray State University with a Master of Public Administration.

McElfresh most recently worked for the City’s Parks & Recreation team as Recreation Program Manager. In this role, she oversaw the John F. Kennedy Community Center and Atkinson Pool staff, organized programs and events within the Parks & Recreation department, and maintained key partnerships within the community.

Before joining the City’s staff, she served as Major, Chief of Inmate Service Branch at the Henderson County Jail. In this role, she oversaw all the inmate service branch operations, supervised staff within the branch, conducted disciplinary hearings for staff and inmates, and conducted deputy jailer interviews as needed.

She will fill the role being vacated after nearly 19 years by Connie Galloway.

“Megan is a hard worker, she’s well qualified, and she comes highly recommended by our staff,” offered Mayor Brad Staton. “We’re excited to have her serve in this new role.”

McElfresh will begin her employment as Human Resources Director on Monday, March 18th, 2024.
