Five workers rescued from Ohio River

Five people were rescued from the Ohio River late Wednesday morning.

Officials said that the five people were employees with a company that were working on a barge at the river port.

The employees were headed back to shore in their skiff when the wind and current pushed the boat underneath the front of the barge.

The people jumped off the skiff and into the water.  Each person was wearing a life vest, according to officials.

Employees with ADM Grain saw and heard the people in the water and were able to form a human chain and get rope to the people to pull them to shore, according to Henderson County Sheriff Chip Stauffer.

No one was injured.

The Henderson County Sherriff’s Office and Henderson Fire Department were among the agencies that responded at the scene.
