Colonels Extinguish Blazers

The Henderson County Colonels came away with a 35 point win over the University Heights Blazers, 69-34, in the Semifinals of the 2nd Region Tournament at Hopkinsville High School in Hopkinsville.

The leading scorers for the Blazers was Quinton Quarles with 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals while Tylin George had 8 points. Elijah Walton had 7 points and 10 rebounds while Kyler Baker had 5 points and 8 rebounds. To round out the scoring, Gavin Grubbs added 5 points and 4 rebounds on the night.

The leading scorers for the Colonels was Dwaine Moss with 17 points and 3 steals while Lacon McKinney had 16 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Alec Satterfield had 9 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals while Cooper Davenport added 8 points. Elijah Suggs tallied 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 blocks while Yusef Sanogo-Kendrick had 4 points and 3 rebounds. Nick Belle scored 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds while Cole Branson had 2 points. Trajdon Davis added 2 points while Max Thompson tallied 1 point and 8 rebounds on the night.

The Blazers shot 7 for 12 (58%) from the free throw line to the Colonels 8 for 12 (67%). The Blazers shot 1 for 17 (6%) from behind the three point line to the Colonels 5 for 16 (31%). The Blazers had a total of 32 rebounds while the Colonels had 45 total rebounds in the game. The Blazers recorded 4 assists, 6 steals, and 8 blocks while the Colonels recorded 9 steals, 13 assists, and 6 blocks. The Blazers committed 13 turnovers to the Colonels committing 9 turnovers on the night.

Colonels senior guard Alec Satterfield in this game surpassed the career assists record set by Devin Suggs from 1991-94 in which was 459 career assists. Satterfield has 464 career assists after the win over the Blazers.

The Henderson County Colonels had junior guard Cooper Davenport named to the All-2nd Region Team, pictured above.

The Colonels improve to (26-6) on the season while the Blazers end their season with a (24-7) record.
