The Henderson County Lady Colonels came away with a 4 point win over the Owensboro Lady Devils, 43-39, in the opening round of the Girls Sweet 16 State Tournament at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
After Owensboro took a 26-14 lead with 3:24 to go in the first half, the Lady Colonels went on a 15-0 run scoring the last 5 points of the 2nd quarter and the first 10 points in the second half to take a 29-26 lead with 3:42 to go in the 3rd. The Lady Colonels never surrendered the lead when they took it the rest of the game.
A’Tylia Green led the way for the Lady Colonels with 17 points while recording 7 rebounds on the afternoon.
The Lady Colonels improve to (26-7) on the season while the Lady Devils ended their season with a (21-12) record.
