The Henderson County Lady Colonels went on the road last night in Morganfield to face off against the Union County Bravettes in the first 6th District game of the regular season.

In the top of the 1st inning, the Lady Colonels would strike first scoring 3 runs total in the inning, 2 of those runs from senior catcher Hallie McCracken’s 2 RBI double. In the bottom of the 1st inning, the Lady Colonels would allow 1 run from the Bravettes on a RBI fly out from Jaylen Tackett.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Bravettes would score on a error by Lady Colonel sophomore second baseman Ayden Bennett.

A RBI single by junior first baseman Anna Kemp would extend the Lady Colonels lead to 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Bravettes would strike on a 1 out, 2 run home run by junior Ava Arnett to tie the game at 4 heading into the 7th inning.

In the top of the 7th inning, the Lady Colonels would strike back with a 1 out, double by freshman shortstop Maggie Grogan to give the Lady Colonels a 6-4 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th.

In the bottom of the 7th inning, the Bravettes would strike right back on a 2 out, 2 RBI double by junior Sydney Thomas to tie the game at 6-6 heading into extra innings.

In the top of the 8th, sophomore second baseman Ayden Bennett for the Lady Colonels would strike with a RBI double and later in the top of the 8th score on a pop out to give the Lady Colonels a 8-6 lead heading into the bottom of the 8th.

In the bottom of the 8th, the Bravettes would score another run on a 2 out, RBI single from sophomore Ashlynn Hargrove to cut the deficit to 8-7 but the Bravettes couldn’t score another run as the Lady Colonels survive with the 8-7 win over Union County in extra innings. The Lady Colonels improve to (3-1) on the season while the Bravettes fall to      (2-2).

Lady Colonel’s senior catcher Hallie McCracken was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI’s while sophomore second baseman Ayden Bennett was 2 for 3 with a double and 1 RBI on the night.

Lady Colonels junior pitcher Ava Eblen in 6 innings allowed 6 hits while walking only 1 batter and recorded 1 strikeout while 8th grade pitcher Lillian Bennett came in and pitched 2 innings and allowed 4 hits while walking 3 batters and recording 1 strikeout but was credited with the win.

As a team, the Lady Colonels scored 8 runs and recorded 8 hits, 6 RBI’s, 5 doubles, 5 stolen bases, and committed 3 errors on the night.

As a team, the Bravettes scored 7 runs and recorded 10 hits, 6 RBI’s, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, and committed 2 errors on the night.

The Lady Colonels next game will be tonight against the Evansville Memorial Lady Tigers in Henderson with first pitch set for 5:30 P.M.
