Authorities rescued a man who was stuck in a Henderson grain bin Wednesday evening.

Units from Smith Mills Volunteer Fire Department, Corydon Civil Defense and Henderson City-County Rescue were dispatched to a report of a man stuck waist deep in a grain bin along Highway 268. Officials said he had possibly been there for a few hours after it reportedly malfunctioned.

Teams from Henderson Fire Department were requested for additional grain bin rescue and the ladder truck.

Crews used grain bin rescue kits to rescue the man. Corydon Civil Defense Chief Bryan Coghill said the man was alert and talking the entire time to crews during the rescue.

It took a few hours to get the man free from the grain bin. He was airlifted to a local hospital for precautionary reasons due to being trapped for hours.
