Lady Trojans Walk Off Win over the Bravettes

The Webster County Lady Trojans faced off against the Union County Bravettes in Dixon last night.

In the top of the 1st inning, the Bravettes would strike first scoring on a RBI double from sophomore first baseman Jaylen Tackett to give the Bravettes a early 1-0 lead.

In the top of the 5th inning, the Bravettes would strike again with a 1 out, 3 run home run from junior second baseman Sydney Thomas to give the Bravettes a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Lady Trojans would score one run on a sacrifice bunt to narrow the deficit to 4-1 heading into the top of the 6th.

In the top of the 6th inning, the Bravettes would strike again on a 2 out, RBI single by freshman shortstop Aspen Davis to extend the Bravettes lead to 5-1 heading into the bottom of the 6th.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Lady Trojans would score 2 runs to cut the deficit to 5-3 heading into the top of the 7th.

The Lady Trojans would not allow a single run to score in the top of the 7th inning. In the bottom of the 7th, the Lady Trojans would draw three straight walks to start the half inning to load the bases and then after a strikeout, junior pitcher Chloe Papineau would crush a ball to left center field that would result in a walk off grand slam to give the Lady Trojans a 7-5 win over the Bravettes. The Lady Trojans improve to (7-4) on the season while the Bravettes fall to (2-6).

Lady Trojans junior pitcher Chloe Papineau was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s and the walk off home run on the night.

Bravettes freshman shortstop Aspen Davis was 2 for 4 while sophomore first baseman Jaylen Tackett was 2 for 4 with a double on the night.

Lady Trojans junior pitcher Chloe Papineau in 7 innings allowed 9 hits while walking only 1 batter and recorded 7 strikeouts on the night.

Bravettes 8th grade pitcher Karley Byrd in 6 and 1/3rd innings allowed 5 hits while walking 7 batters and recordong 4 strikeouts on the night.

As a team, the Lady Colonels scored 7 runs and recorded 5 hits, 6 RBI’s, 2 stolen bases, and committed 2 errors on the night.

As a team, the Bravettes scored 5 runs and recorded 9 hits, 5 RBI’s, 1 double, 1 home run, 3 stolen bases, and committed 1 error on the night.
