Henderson man arrested on drug trafficking charges


A Henderson man was arrested on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop.

Kentucky State Police attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle on U.S. 41 in Henderson on Tuesday.  Police said that Nicholas Easton, 40, of Henderson, failed to stop.

Police pursued Easton, who was seen throwing bags of suspected methamphetamine from the vehicle. He was apprehended in the 1700 block of Clay Street.

Troopers discovered marijuana, methamphetamine, Fentanyl patches, counterfeit Percocet pills suspected to contain Fentanyl, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun when they searched Easton and the vehicle.

A search warrant was obtained and executed for Easton’s residence. Authorities found an AR-15 style pistol and numerous items of evidence indicative of trafficking controlled substances. The Henderson Police Department and Henderson County Sheriff’s Office assisted KSP with the search.

Easton was arrested for multiple controlled substance and firearm related charges including speeding, operating a vehicle under a controlled substance, failure to or improper signal, reckless driving, operating on a suspended or revoked driver’s license, failure to notify address change to the Department of Transportation, persistent felony possession of a firearm, trafficking in a first-degree controlled substance (methamphetamine), importing carfentanil, fentanyl or fentanyl derivatives, trafficking in a controlled substance (carfentanil or fentanyl derivatives), fleeing or evading police, tampering with physical evidence, trafficking in marijuana, buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, promoting contraband and receiving stolen property (firearm).

He was previously released on parole supervision in August 2023 for underlying convictions that included burglary and fraudulent use of a credit card among other charges.

Easton was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center, where he is being held on bonds totaling $8,950.
