The Henderson County Colonels were at home last night in Henderson to face off against the Union County Braves in the first 6th District game of the regular season at B.T. Wayne Field.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the Colonels would be the first to score on a 2 RBI single by senior pitcher Reed Rheinhardt to give the Colonels a early 2-0 lead heading into the 3rd inning.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, the Colonels would strike on a 2 out, RBI single by senior center fielder Caden Dotson to extend the Colonels lead to 3-0 heading into the top of the 5th.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Colonels would score 3 total runs, 1 run on a RBI single from junior third baseman Cooper Vowels, and 2 runs on a 2 out 2 RBI single by senior pitcher Reed Rheinhardt to extend the Colonels lead to 6-0 heading into the 6th inning.

The Colonels would score 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning on a ground ball error by the Braves defense to give the Colonels an 8-0 lead heading into the top of the 7th.

The Colonels would complete the shutout and win 8-0 over the Braves improving the Colonels record to (7-9) on the season while the Braves fall to a (5-8) record.

Colonel’s offense was led by senior pitcher Reed Rheinhardt was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI’s while senior left fielder Max Thompson was 2 for 2 with a double on the night.

Colonels senior pitcher Reed Rheinhardt in 6 innings allowed 1 hit while walking only 1 batter and recorded 10 strikeouts while freshman pitcher Cole Thompson came in and pitched 1 inning and allowed 1 hit on the night.

As a team, the Colonels scored 8 runs and recorded 9 hits, 6 RBI’s, 2 doubles, 3 stolen bases, and committed 1 error on the night.

As a team, the Braves scored 0 runs and recorded 2 hits, 2 stolen bases, and committed 3 errors on the night.

The Colonels next game will be tonight against the Evansville Central Bears in Henderson with first pitch set for 5:00 P.M. weather permitting.
