The Webster County Trojans faced off against the Union County Braves in Morganfield last night.

In the top of the 1st inning, the Trojans would strike first scoring on a RBI ground out from junior third baseman Ryan Nance to give the Trojans an early 1-0 lead.

In the top of the 3rd inning, the Trojans would strike again with back to back RBI singles from junior first baseman Canaan Taylor and sophomore right fielder Trace Hardison to extend the Trojans lead to 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 3rd.

In the top of the 5th inning, the Trojans would strike again with 1 run to give the Trojans a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Braves would score on a 2 out fielder’s choice to cut the deficit to 4-1 heading into the top of the 7th.

The Trojans would hold the Braves to 0 runs in the bottom of the 7th, as the Trojans would come away with the 4-1 win over the Braves. The Trojans improve to (7-7) on the season while the Braves fall to (5-12).

Trojans junior center fielder Jackson Edens was 2 for 4 while junior shortstop Micah Austin was 2 for 2 with 1 RBI. Sophomore right fielder Trace Hardison was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI on the night.

Braves junior shortstop Garret Shouse was 2 for 3 on the night.

Trojans junior pitcher Pryce Pearcy in 7 innings allowed 4 hits while walking only 2 batters and recorded 9 strikeouts on the night.

Braves junior pitcher Brady Greenwell in 5 innings allowed 8 hits while walking 3 batters and recording 7 strikeouts on the night.

As a team, the Trojans scored 4 runs and recorded 8 hits, 3 RBIā€™s, 3 stolen bases, and committed 0 errors on the night.

As a team, the Braves scored 1 run and recorded 9 hits, 1 RBI, 4 stolen bases, and committed 2 errors on the night.
