Colonels Tear up Trojans

The Henderson County Colonels were on the road last night in Dixon facing off against the Webster County Trojans in the second 6th District game of the regular season at the Clarky Clark Complex.

In the top of the 1st inning, the Colonels would be the first to score on back to RBI singles, one from senior catcher Jayce Hicks and one from junior third baseman Cooper Vowels, as well as a triple by senior center fielder Cade Dotson to give the Colonels a early 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 1st.

In the bottom of the 1st inning, the Trojans would answer on a 1 out RBI single by junior shortstop Micah Austin to cut the Colonels lead to 3-1 heading into the top of the 2nd.

In the top of the 2nd inning, the Colonels would respond by scoring 4 runs, one run on a walk and 3 runs on a 3 RBI double by sophomore first baseman Hunter Evans to extend the Colonels lead to 7-1 heading into the bottom of the 2nd.

In the top of the 4th inning, the Colonels would score 2 runs on a 2 run home run by sophomore first baseman Hunter Evans to push the Colonels lead to 9-1 heading into the bottom of the 4th.

In the top of the 5th inning, the Colonels would score a run on a sacrifice fly by junior third baseman Cooper Vowels to extend the Colonels lead to 10-1 heading into the bottom of the 5th.

In the top of the 6th inning, the Colonels would score a run on a sacrifice fly by junior right fielder Dax Wilson to push the Colonels lead to 11-1 heading into the bottom of the 6th.

The Colonels would not allow the Trojans to score and resulted in the 10 run rule as the Colonels would snap their 7 game losing streak and come away with the 11-1 victory over the Trojans. The Colonels would improve to (8-15) on the season while the Trojans fall to (9-8).

Colonel’s offense was led by senior catcher Jayce Hicks was 3 for 3 with a 1 RBI while sophomore first baseman Hunter Evans was 2 for 4 with a double and home run and 5 RBI’s on the night.

Colonels senior pitcher Clayton Brown in 2 innings allowed 3 hits while walking only 2 batters and recorded 3 strikeouts while freshman pitcher Cole Thompson came in and pitched 1 inning and allowed 1 hit on the night.

As a team, the Colonels scored 11 runs and recorded 9 hits, 10 RBI’s, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 3 stolen bases, and committed 0 errors on the night.

As a team, the Trojans scored 1 run and recorded 7 hits, 1 RBI, 2 stolen bases, and committed 1 error on the night.

The Colonels next game will be tomorrow night against the Webster County Trojans in Henderson at B.T. Wayne Field with first pitch set for 5:30 P.M.
