Aubrey D. Gibson

Aubrey D. Gibson, age 93, of Henderson, KY, passed away on May 6, 2024, at Redbanks Nursing Home, where he was lovingly taken care of by the nurses and aides.

Aubrey was born in Webster County, KY, on March 12, 1931, to A.J. and Verbal Gibson. He retired from Commonwealth Life Insurance Company after 28 years of service. Aubrey later worked for Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home for 15 years. Aubrey was a charted member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for 67 years. He was a Korean War Veteran. Aubrey was a member of Henderson Elks Lodge for 51 years and served as past State President of the Kentucky State Elks Association. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and an avid U.K. basketball fan.

Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Carlos Gibson, Chesley Gibson, J.B. “Jim” Gibson, Raymond “Pat” Gibson, and Charles Gibson, sisters: Reva Gibson, Irene Jones, and Mildred Bridwell, and a granddaughter Lindsey Henderson.

Aubrey is survived by his wife of 40 years Martha Gibson of Henderson, KY; daughters Audrey Benton (Jerry) of Henderson, KY and Kelly Fronabarger (Keith) of Kevil, KY; step-sons Jim Robards, Jr. (Carolyn) of Sylacauga, AL and Jeff Robards (Cindy) of Henderson, KY; grandson Bradley Henderson of Lexington, KY; 4 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Aubrey’s Life Celebration from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Monday and from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Tuesday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the funeral home with Reverend Rick Nollmann officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides for their excellent care of Aubrey, everyone was wonderful to him!
