Thomas seeking seat on Henderson City Commission

Chris Thomas is seeking an at-large seat on the Henderson City Commission.

Thomas, 35, is an independent insurance agent with Davis Insurance Group, Inc. He is a graduate of Henderson Leadership Initiative and currently serves on the board of directors for Matthew 25.

“I’m running to ensure every voice in our city is heard — focusing on practical solutions that improve safety, strengthen local businesses, and enhance quality of life for families,” Thomas said in a candidate questionnaire provided to WSON.  “I am a strong proponent of Fiscal Responsibility & Transparency and with a background in accounting and business, I’ll prioritize responsible budgeting, efficient use of taxpayer dollars, and open communication about how funds are managed.  Lastly, I’m committed to guiding sustainable development that attracts investment, protects neighborhoods, and prepares our city for future generations.”

Thomas talks about why he believes he’s right for the Henderson City Commission.

“My background in business and finance gives me the skills to manage city resources wisely, ensuring responsible budgeting and efficient operations,” Thomas said. “ I’ve spent years working with local residents and businesses, understanding the challenges we face and turning ideas into real improvements for our community.  I bring a balanced, solutions-oriented approach to government—listening first, acting decisively, and always putting the city’s long-term success above politics.”

He listed the following as priorities if elected to City Commissioner.

“As City Commissioner, my focus will be on fiscal responsibility, ensuring every tax dollar is managed wisely and transparently to deliver real value to our community,” he said. “I’m committed to investing in programs that empower our youth, helping them develop the skills and confidence to become the next generation of leaders. And I’ll work to strengthen Henderson’s infrastructure, so our city is well-prepared for sustainable growth and long-term success.

He is married to wife Morgan Thomas, and they have sons Gage Thomas, 16, and Jude Thomas, 9, as well as three dogs.

“I want to bring the same foundational principles that guide my life—and that I strive to instill in my children—to help make Henderson an even better place to live,” he said. “Those principles are simple yet powerful: to be disciplined in our actions, compassionate in our communications, and trustworthy in our follow-through.
