HENDERSON, KY, November 18, 2025– The City of Henderson has announced steps to resolve a compensation oversight dating back to 2016, according to a news release.
The compensation oversight was first identified earlier this year during the hazardous duty employee’s return to the City’s original pay plan.
After further evaluation, it was determined that approximately 25 officers were affected. These include both active and inactive employees who held the rank of officer at the Henderson Police Department in December 2016. Officers who held the rank of sergeant and above in December 2016 and those hired from 2017 to the present were not impacted by the oversight.
To correct this inconsistency, the City is issuing a one-time catch-up payment to each impacted individual. The one-time payments will bring compensation amounts up to date with what the officers would have received during the affected period of service. The issuing of the correction payments is estimated to cost the City approximately $250,000 total.
The City’s Human Resources team is finalizing individual calculations and working to validate all related documentation. Once this process is completed, a member of the HR team will directly contact impacted current and former employees with information about their one-time payment.
If you do not receive communication from the City’s Human Resources team by November 21st, you are not impacted.
This corrective action by the City emphasizes the administration’s dedication to fairness and transparency in all personnel-related matters, according to city officials.
