
The Henderson County Lady Colonels (3-4) turned in a dominant performance Tuesday night, defeating the Mater Dei Lady Wildcats (6-4) 61-36 at Colonel Gym.
Henderson set the tone early, exploding to a 28-7 lead after the first quarter behind four made three-pointers, highlighted by a 40-foot buzzer-beater from A’Tylia Green. The Lady Colonels continued to build the lead in the second quarter, taking a commanding 40-15 advantage into halftime, and pushed it to 55-24 after three quarters.
Henderson finished the night shooting an impressive 7-of-16 from beyond the arc.
JaNyla Locher and A’Tylia Green each scored 16 points to lead the Lady Colonels, with Locher setting a new career high. Addy Gish added eight points, Jersey Gardner scored seven, and Callie Burnett finished with six. Bella Estabrook chipped in three, while Kenley Evans and Nevaeh Dixon each scored two. Maggee Melvin rounded out the scoring with one.
The Lady Colonels return to action Friday at 7 p.m. (CT), taking on South Oldham at Bullitt East’s Queen of the Commonwealth Holiday Tournament.
