The Henderson County Lady Colonels rolled into the semifinals of the Queen of the Commonwealth Holiday Tournament with a dominant 69-40 victory over Louisville Central on Saturday at Bullitt East High School in Mount Washington.
Henderson set the tone early, jumping out to a 19-10 first-quarter lead behind nine opening-quarter points from Callie Burnett. The Lady Colonels continued to build separation in the second quarter, taking a commanding 38-16 advantage into halftime.
Henderson put the game out of reach in the third, stretching the lead to 61-29 after three quarters and cruising to the win.
Burnett led the way with 15 points, while Jersey Gardner and A’Tylia Green added 11 apiece. Addy Gish finished with eight points, including the Lady Colonels’ lone three-pointer. Nevaeh Dixon, JaNyla Locher, and Maggee Melvin each scored six, Kenley Evans chipped in four, and junior Peyton London scored her first two points of the season.
Henderson County (5-4) returns to action Sunday at 5:30 p.m. (CT), facing tournament host Bullitt East in the semifinals.
