The City of Henderson has set its holiday observances for 2025-26. The following is a list of how those holidays might affect citizens’ trash and recycling collections.
2026 City Holidays
All City offices will be closed in observance of the following holidays in 2026:
New Year’s Day: Thursday, January 1st, 2026
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: Monday, January 19th, 2026
Good Friday: Friday, April 3rd, 2026
Memorial Day: Monday, May 25th, 2026
Juneteenth: Friday, June 19th, 2026
Independence Day: Friday, July 3rd, 2026
Labor Day: Monday, September 7th, 2026
Veterans Day: Wednesday, November 11th, 2026
Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 26th, 2026
Day after Thanksgiving: Friday, November 27th, 2026
Christmas Eve: Thursday, December 24th, 2026
Christmas Day: Friday, December 25th, 2026

Trash and recycling schedules may be altered during holiday weeks. To avoid missing a pickup, City residents are encourage to review the holiday collection schedule in advance. Check out printable versions of the schedules below.

Christmas Holiday December 24th & 25th 2026
Mon. Dec 21st –Monday & Tuesday routes.
Tues. Dec 22nd – Wednesday routes and
Thursday routes that lie North of Dixon St,
Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, and O’Byrne St.
Wed. Dec 23rd – Remainder of Thursday Routes and Friday Routes.
Thurs. Dec 24th & Fri. Dec 25th – No trash pickup. Landfill Closed Dec. 25th Only.
New Year’s Day January 1st, 2027
Mon. Dec 28th – Wed. Dec 30th – Normal trash pickup.
Thurs. Dec 31st – Thursday and Friday Routes.
Friday Jan 1st – No trash pickup. Landfill Closed.

Christmas Day: Friday, December 25
If a holiday falls on a weekday, collections for the rest of the week will be pushed back a day. For example, for a Thursday holiday,
service would be on Friday. For holidays on Saturday or Sunday, there are no delays.
