Kentucky State Police is investigating a multi-county pursuit involving Christian County Detention Center escapees.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 Dispatch was notified on Sunday of a carjacking and assault incident at the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree located at 230 South Madisonville Street in Crofton. Christian County Dispatch advised the incident possibly involved two escaped inmates from the Christian County Detention Center who walked away from a work detail a short time prior.

Troopers located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Western Kentucky Parkway near the 60-milemarker. However, the operator refused to stop and fled northbound on the parkway at high speeds.

The pursuit continued through Muhlenberg, Ohio, and Grayson counties, where the vehicle was ultimately stopped near the 108-mile marker. Assisting agencies utilized a tire deflation device, successfully stopping the vehicle.

Law enforcement identified the operator as escaped inmate Elijah Boodoosignh, 30, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Boodoosignh was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle); speeding 26 mph or greater on a limited access road; reckless driving; first-degree wanton endangerment; second-degree fleeing or evading police; resisting arrest; possession of marijuana; possession of alcohol beverage in a motor vehicle; license to be in possession; and second-degree escape.

Police identified a passenger who escaped from a detention center as James Stull, 39, of Covington. He was charged with second-degree escape.

A second passenger was identified as Caitlyn Burchett, 31, of Louisville. Burchett was not charged.

Boodoosignh was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center, and Stull was transported back to the Christian County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Travis Vandrew and Trooper Tyler Hancock.
