HCPL's Official StoryWalk Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Atkinson Park on April 16th at 4 PM

HENDERSON, KY – The Henderson County Public Library is unveiling Henderson’s first official StoryWalk.

There will be an official ribbon cutting held from 4-5 p.m. Thursday at Atkinson Park playground by Shelter #9.

The library encourages families to fall in love with reading in a whole new way.

StoryWalks originated in Vermont in 2007 as an initiative to promote early literacy, physical activity, and family engagement. Since their inception, StoryWalks have spread
nationwide, often appearing in parks, trails, and downtown areas. These installations bring books into outdoor environments, allowing stories to be experienced interactively.

Danielle Anguish, the Youth Services Coordinator at HCPL, has led the development of this project.

She says she, “anticipates that the StoryWalk will encourage the community to slow down, connect, explore outdoor spaces, and develop a renewed appreciation for reading.”
