Children's Day Celebration & Resource Fair Planned for Saturday in Evansville

Evansville – Nearly 50 community organizations will be participating in the Children’s Day Celebration and Resource Fair this Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Stockwell Park/Parque Latino. The event is hosted by Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library, CareSource, Centro Latino + Americano, LIGA Link, and the Immigrant Welcome & Resource Center.

“This event celebrates the children in our community and encourages adults to reflect on the important role we play in providing for their future,” said Eric Ardell Smith, Community Outreach Specialist, EVPL. “To see how much this event has grown in one year is inspiring, and we are grateful for the support and commitment from all those involved.”

Event partners include community organizations focused on well-being, learning, recreation, and fun for children and families.  The event aims to introduce families to community resources and organizations and will include materials in several languages.

LIGA Link, the Tri-State Latino soccer league, will introduce children and families to Futsal, a fast-paced version of soccer played on a hard court. The Evansville Fire Department will have a fire truck on site for children to explore. This event also includes outdoor games, a bouncy house, EVPL Storytime, music, face painting, dance lessons, and other free fun for children. Jamaican Yard Vibes and La Plaza food trucks will have refreshments available for purchase.

This event is weather permitting and will be cancelled in the event of storms or heavy rain.
