Barbara Jean Nugent Billings, lovingly known as “Mawmaw,” went home to be with her Savior on April 22, 2026.
Barbara was born on December 23, 1942, in Georgetown, IN to Roy and Augustine Nugent, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ronnie Nugent, Alice Ramsey, Ernie Nugent, Roy Nugent, and Jim Nugent, as well as her beloved son, Jonathan Wayne Billings, and great-granddaughter Remington Williams.
Barbara was, above all, a devoted and loving mother. Her children were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into caring for and supporting them throughout her life. Her love for them was constant, unwavering, and evident in everything she did.
She is survived by her loving children: Becky Caldwell (Wendell), Vicki Mull, Tommy Billings (Judy), and Greg Billings (Dana Bugg). Barbara also leaves behind a legacy of love through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Brenda Poehlien of Cannelton, IN along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Barbara began her career working at Redbanks and later dedicated many years to home healthcare. She had a true servant’s heart and was deeply loved by her patients and their families. Her compassion and kindness made a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Barbara never met a stranger. She had no shortage of friends and was known for her warm spirit, generous heart, and open door. To many, family and friends alike, she was simply “Mawmaw.” She had a special way of making everyone feel like family.
She had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs. She was blessed by the companionship of Spanky and Molly, who surely welcomed her home, and leaves behind her cherished companions, Little Man and Bridgette, who will miss her dearly.
Barbara’s faith was central to her life. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and found peace in knowing she was going home. While her family and friends will miss her deeply, they take comfort in the promise of her eternal rest.
Barbara will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
