Williams Signs with Brescia After Breakout Senior Season

HENDERSON, Ky. — Hard work doesn’t always show up right away. For Henderson County High School senior Braden Williams, it showed up right on time.

On Wednesday, surrounded by family, friends, and teammates inside Henderson County High School, Williams officially signed to continue his basketball career at Brescia University — a moment that felt years in the making.

The 6-foot-6 center carved out his role the hard way. After seeing limited varsity minutes during his first three seasons, Williams broke through as a senior. He played in all 31 games for the Colonels, averaging 5 points and 4 rebounds per contest while leading the team with an efficient 65% shooting from the field.

But numbers only tell part of the story.

For Williams, the opportunity to play at the next level is about representing where he came from.

“You know, just all the work I put in, I just got to represent myself good,” Williams said. “When I go out there, it’s what I learned here — take it over there.”

Brescia quickly stood out during his recruiting process, not just for basketball, but for the environment.

“It’s close to home,” Williams said. “When I went over there for a visit, they just showed me a bunch of love. I just felt like it was home for me.”

That comfort level, paired with opportunity, made the decision an easy one.

Looking ahead to his freshman season, Williams is focused on continuing to grow his game — and earning his spot on the floor.

“Just… a bunch of playing time,” he said with a smile. “Finally work on… and a bunch of playing time.”

While his college journey is just beginning, Williams already has moments from his Henderson County career that will stick with him — none bigger than his senior night.

“My senior night,” he said. “I told myself I was going to have a good game, and I had one of my best games that game.”

It’s a fitting snapshot of his career: preparation meeting opportunity.

From limited minutes to a key contributor, and now a college signee, Williams’ path is a reminder that development isn’t always linear — but persistence pays off.

And now, the next chapter begins.
