A person was killed following a collision between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer on I-69, just north of Boonville-New Harmony Road on Wednesday morning.
Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 5:03 a.m. Wednesday to a serious crash with injuries near the 16-mile marker of I-69, just north of Boonville-New Harmony Road.
The crash involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle that were both traveling northbound on I-69.
The passenger vehicle driver was killed as a result of the crash. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
The tractor-trailer driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with investigators. In accordance with Indiana law regarding fatal crashes, the driver submitted to a chemical blood test. At this time, there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
Sheriff’s Office detectives and deputies trained in crash reconstruction responded to assist with the investigation. The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Indiana State Police and the Vanderburgh County Fire Department.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next-of-kin notifications have been completed.
