RiverValley Behavioral Health holding Veterans Forum

OWENSBORO, KY – RiverValley Behavioral Health is launching a Veterans Forum to help shape future services for those who served.

For years, RVBH has provided behavioral health and recovery services to veterans throughout the region. Today, through its Veterans Services Unit, RVBH is strengthening those efforts with specialized support focused on military culture, care coordination, transition support, recovery, and community connection.

To help guide these efforts, RVBH will host a Veterans Forum at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2026, at RiverValley Center, 1100 Walnut Street in Owensboro. Veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, military families, veteran service organizations, employers, and community leaders are encouraged to attend. Brunch will be provided.

The forum will offer an opportunity to learn about available resources, share perspectives, identify service gaps, explore partnerships, and help strengthen support for veterans and military families across western Kentucky.

“At RiverValley Behavioral Health, we are honored to serve the men and women who have served our nation and the families who stand beside them,” said Dr. Wanda Figueroa, President and CEO. “This forum is about listening. We want to hear directly from veterans and military families so we can better understand their needs, strengthen partnerships, and build services that truly make a difference.”

The RVBH Veterans Services Unit includes veterans and mental health professionals who are dedicated to helping those who have served find hope, healing, purpose, and connection. Their lived experience and professional expertise provide a deeper understanding of military culture and the unique challenges veterans and military families may face.

Through the RVBH Veterans Services Unit, veterans and military families can access mental health and recovery services, crisis support, care coordination, peer support, family education, housing and employment assistance, and connections to VA and community resources. The goal is to make it easier for military-connected individuals and families to find the support they need and navigate available resources.

“Supporting veterans and military families starts with listening. This forum gives us an opportunity to hear directly from the people we serve, learn where gaps exist, and work together to strengthen support across our region,” said Dr. Lionel Phelps, Vice President of Population Health. “RiverValley understands veterans, employs veterans, has been
serving veterans for years. Now, we are investing even more resources into supporting military members and families across the entire continuum of care, from active duty to civilian life.”

Cody Burns, Veterans Care Coordinator, said the initiative is focused on helping veterans and their families connect with meaningful support and resources.

“As a veteran, I understand that asking for help isn’t always easy,” Burns said. “Whether someone is facing behavioral health challenges, substance use concerns, difficulties transitioning to civilian life, or simply doesn’t know where to turn, we want them to know they don’t have to navigate it alone.”‘
