City of Henderson announces enhancements to utility assistance fund to expand impact

HENDERSON, KY, June 23, 2026– The City of Henderson Board of Commissioners approved updates to the utility assistance fund at Tuesday’s regularly scheduled meeting.

The program, created in partnership with Henderson Christian Community Outreach (HCCO), seeks to provide financial assistance to qualifying residents who need help paying their water utility bills.

Under the updated guidelines, Henderson residents who are eligible may now receive $250 in assistance every 12 months toward their water utility payments. Previously, residents were able to receive $200. In addition, eligibility requirements have been expanded. The revised guidelines increase the eligibility threshold to individuals at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, meaning a four-person household earning $66,000 per year or less may now receive assistance through the program.

The Commission also agreed to a reset of eligibility restrictions related to those who have received prior assistance. As a result, eligible residents who have received support within the past 12 months may reapply for assistance. After receiving utility funds under the updated program guidelines, applicants must wait 12 months before becoming eligible again.

Residents interested in applying for the program should contact Henderson Christian Community Outreach at (270) 826-5592 for eligibility screens and application information.
