Lions preparing for Arts and Crafts Festival in Audubon Park

The Henderson Lions Arts and Crafts Festival at Audubon State Park is set for Saturday and Sunday, October 3rd and 4th, this year, and planning is underway.

The festival will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and it still only costs $5 to park your vehicle.

Shuttles will run throughout the weekend to carry people throughout the park. And Lions are introducing something new this year: a new trolley painted and decorated in Lions’ colors
that will comfortably hold about 20 people.

The festival began in the 1970’s as the Big Rivers Arts and Crafts Festival, attracting thousands of visitors each year. Henderson Lions have been hosting the festival since 2015, with this year marking the 54th festival.

Well over 100 craft and food vendors participated in the festival last year. All items are handmade by the vendors and include handcrafted jewelry, apparel and accessories, dolls and toys, crocheted plushies and animals, home and kitchen items, bath products, soaps, lotions and specialty food items such as honey, jams, salsas, fudge, candies and baked goods. Fall, Halloween and
Christmas decorations are also available.

Food vendors sell tacos, walking tacos, BBQ and Asian cuisine, popcorn cinnamon rolls and cookies, just to name a few.

All the money raised stays in he community and supports the Lions’ mission of eye health and conservation, including eyeglasses and eye surgeries for those in need, eye screenings for children in Henderson County Schools, scholarships for high school seniors and grants to local nonprofit groups. Craft vendors will once again pay $135 while food vendors pay $190.

You can find more information, including how to sign up to be a vendor, at hendersonlions.org or the Henderson Lions Facebook page at facebook.com/hendersonlions.
