EVANSVILLE – In a statement released Friday, Tri-State Food Bank CEO and Evansville City Councilman Zac Heronemus announced that he will be resigning both positions in December.
The announcement comes 15 months after Heronemus returned to Tri-State Food Bank to lead the organization in April 2025.
During his tenure in leadership, he helped the organization strategically move through the SNAP disruption at a critical time within the region. The organization said that he has strengthened the organization’s financial footing, ushered in new modes of sustainability, and worked toward increasing capacity that will help Tri-State Food Bank serve neighbors in need.
Pat Thomas, President of Tri-State Food Bank’s Board of Directors, advised that the Executive Team of the Board is working to establish a search committee to find the best successor at this time for the food bank.
“Zac was the right choice to lead this organization when we needed him. On behalf of the board, I am grateful for the efforts he and his team have taken to help our neighbors facing food insecurity,” Thomas said. “I am confident that the current team at Tri-State Food Bank is well equipped to carry on the continued success of the operations through this search process and transition in leadership. Both the team and the culture are in a very good place, and we plan to maintain that momentum as we search for a new organizational leader.”
Thomas went on to say that in the months leading up to Heronemus’s departure, Tri-State Food Bank’s leadership team will continue to define what comes next in the strategic plan to ensure that it is setting the organization up for success.
Heronemus’ resignation will be effective December 18.
