The Community Foundation of Henderson recently announced two major milestones – a transition to an independent, locally governed foundation with charitable assets and an executive director.
Maggie Collier has been named the first executive director of the Community Foundation of Henderson, according to a news release.
“I’m incredibly honored and excited for the opportunity to serve as Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Henderson,” said Collier. “Henderson has always been home, and I’m passionate about helping connect people who care with causes that matter in the community they call home. Whether that’s supporting local nonprofits, honoring loved ones, or investing in Henderson’s future, the Foundation exists to help turn generosity into lasting impact. I’m honored to help lead this next chapter and look forward to building relationships throughout our community.”
Founded in 2011, the Community Foundation of Henderson operated for many years as an affiliate of the Community Foundation of West Kentucky, growing a culture of philanthropy in Henderson County. The Foundation has now completed its transition to an independent 501(c )(3), with local governance, charitable assets professionally managed in Henderson and philanthropic decisions remaining in the community.
With decisions made locally and charitable assets professionally managed in Henderson, donors can have confidence that their philanthropy remains rooted in and focused on the community they love.
“This is a transformational moment for the Community Foundation of Henderson,” said Cyndee Burton, Board President. “For more than a decade, our volunteer Board has faithfully stewarded the Foundation’s mission. As the Foundation has grown into an independent organization, we recognized the need for dedicated leadership to strengthen relationships, increase community visibility, and expand our impact. Maggie is the right person to help lead us into this exciting future.”
These milestones reflect years of thoughtful planning and build upon the Foundation’s legacy of strengthening philanthropy, expanding community impact and connecting people who care with causes that matter throughout Henderson.
A Henderson native, Collier graduated from Henderson County High School before earning her degree in Tennessee. She returned home to Henderson in 2015, where she has remained actively involved in the community through civic leadership, nonprofit service and volunteerism.
Collier brings nearly two decades of experience in marketing, communications, strategic partnerships, business development and community engagement. Throughout her career, she has helped organizations strengthen their brands, build meaningful relationships and create lasting community impact.
For Collier, the opportunity to become the Foundation’s first Executive Director brings together her passion for community, relationship-building, and philanthropy while also representing both a professional milestone and a personal commitment to the community she calls home.
As Executive Director, Collier will oversee the Foundation’s daily operations, donor services, fund development, community engagement and strategic initiatives while working closely with donors, nonprofit organizations, professional advisors, businesses and community leaders to advance the Foundation’s mission of connecting generosity with community needs and creating lasting community impact.
The Community Foundation of Henderson partners with individuals, families, businesses and organizations to establish charitable funds that support local causes, nonprofits and community initiatives. Gifts to the Foundation are invested for long-term growth, creating permanent resources that benefit Henderson both today and for generations to come.
With local governance, local stewardship of charitable assets and dedicated professional leadership, the Foundation is entering an exciting new chapter focused on expanding charitable giving, strengthening nonprofit organizations and enhancing quality of life throughout Henderson.
As part of the new era in local philanthropy, the Foundation is rolling out a new visual identity, refreshed branding and additional initiatives over the next few weeks that reflect its vision for the future. The Foundation will continue to share additional announcements as it prepares for a Community Celebration this Fall, highlighting its mission, leadership and vision for the future.
