Henderson County Schools released a statement regarding the ongoing heat wave and how that will affect school activities.
Officials said, “The safety of our students, staff, and community is a top priority in Henderson County Schools. Please be assured that we are closely monitoring the excessive heat warning forecasted for our area this week. “
Afternoon buses will be loaded as quickly and efficiently as possible. The school district said it plans to minimize students sitting on buses as much as possible. Students are allowed to bring their water bottles on the bus to drink while the bus is not in motion.
Outside activities including recess or outdoor classroom instruction will be limited.
Maintenance crews are in place to address any HVAC concerns in buildings as a high priority.
All after-school activities, including student practices or games, will be monitored by district staff, and any changes or cancellations to schedules will be communicated to coaches, players, and parents.
Henderson County Schools resumes classes tomorrow.
