A narcotics investigation by detectives with the Evansville Police Department and Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has yielded an arrest.
Authorities investigated Keenan R. Compton, 35, for selling narcotics. Through surveillance, Compton was observed committing multiple traffic violations.
Detectives also knew Compton had never received a driver’s license. A traffic stop was made at Columbia Street and Fares Avenue when Compton was the only person in the vehicle.
After Compton was taken into custody, detectives located more than 15 grams of methamphetamine, 21 grams of marijuana and prescription narcotics on Compton and in the vehicle.
Detectives also seized a .40 caliber handgun. Compton is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to his status as a Serious Violent Felon.
Compton was preliminarily charged with Dealing Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm by Serious Violent Felon, Possession of Marijuana, Operating Without Ever Receive a License with Prior and Possession of a Narcotic Drug.
