An investigation is underway after two people were shot in Evansville on Monday night.
Evansville officers were initially dispatched to the 700 block of North Garvin St at just after 10:30 p.m. Monday in reference to shots fired. Multiple 911 calls were received saying more than 10 shots were heard in the area.
Officers arrived and located a man in the 100 block of East Missouri Street who had been shot in the right, rear hip area. While rendering aid to the first victim, officers learned a second man had arrived at a local hospital suffering with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigators responded to the hospital to speak to both victims. Both victims stated they did not know who had shot them, or why.
The victim who had been shot in the chest did admit to shooting back as they were being shot at. Both victim’s injuries are listed as non-life threatening.
Detectives were able to recover numerous pieces of evidence at the scene. Detectives also canvassed the area for additional evidence or surveillance video.
