Evansville authorities made multiple arrests after an investigation discovered numerous illegal firearms.
Detectives with the Street Crimes Unit followed up on information about illegal firearms activity in the 700 block of Chateau Drive. The SCU was able to identify Kendan B. Thomas, 21, and Konnor L. Kiper, 19, as suspects. 
On Thursday, Thomas and Kiper were seen leaving the same apartment in separate vehicles. Detectives stopped both vehicles after traffic violations. 
Both Thomas and Kiper possessed handguns. Kiper’s handgun had a machine gun conversion device which allows the handgun to fire in a fully automatic capacity.
Detectives later served a search warrant on the apartment that Thomas and Kiper were seen leaving. Detectives seized additional machine gun conversion devices, multiple handguns and rifles, a Draco style AK Pistol, ammunition and narcotics evidence.
Thomas was charged with possession of a machine gun, theft of a firearm and speeding.
Kiper was charged with possession of a machine gun and driving left of center.
Evansville Police Department also charged Carter J. Basham, 18, with possession of a machine gun. 
A juvenile was charged with dangerous possession of a firearm.
The Street Crimes Unit is comprised of detectives from the Evansville Police Department and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.
