The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Evansville man on multiple drug dealing charges following a traffic stop on Monday.
At approximately 5:32 p.m. Monday, deputies were dispatched to the 7300 block of Everglades Drive regarding an intoxicated male. Deputies were advised that the individuals had left the area in a Chevrolet Malibu.
A deputy later observed the vehicle traveling eastbound on Lloyd Expressway between Wabash Avenue and Fulton Avenue. The vehicle was stopped near Fulton Avenue and Ohio Street after the deputy observed it traveling 45 mph in a posted 40 mph zone.
During the investigation, deputies deployed K9 Hugo to conduct a free-air sniff of the vehicle. The K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, and deputies subsequently searched the vehicle.
A passenger, identified as Joshua Oskins, 34, of Evansville, was found to be in possession of a large amount of cash, multiple containers containing suspected narcotics, and a digital scale.
Deputies located approximately four grams of a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for cocaine. They also located approximately 36 pills later identified as Alprazolam, a Schedule IV controlled substance. The pills had a combined weight of approximately eight grams.
Deputies also located $3,539 in cash and multiple items consistent with the distribution of controlled substances.
Following his arrest and after being advised of his Miranda rights, Oskins admitted to selling approximately $2,500 worth of heroin. He also acknowledged possessing cocaine and Xanax.
Oskins was transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail and arrested on the following charges:
- Dealing in Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug, IC 35-48-4-1
- Dealing in a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, IC 35-48-4-3
