The month of September is Hunger Action Month and September 29th is Hunger Action Day.
As a partner food bank of Feeding America, Tri-State Food Bank has been working to raise awareness throughout September to encourage those who are able to take action for hunger awareness through advocacy, volunteerism or making donations.
On Tuesday night, after sundown, the lights of the Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse will be lit orange to observe this very special day and continue to raise awareness to end hunger.
Food insecurity is an ongoing reality. Hunger doesn’t last for just one day or one month.
From reaching out to legislators, to hosting or participating in drives, to volunteering for any area food pantry or Tri-State Food Bank, each of these actions allows our neighbors to access the food they need.
When these actions are brought together, the impact is tenfold. Officials said the lights turning orange is an effort to thank those who have supported neighbors and to encourage tri-state residents to continue to take the action that best suits them.
