A woman was injured during a shooting on Pollack Avenue on Thursday afternoon.
Evansville Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Pollack Avenue just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday for shots fired.
Officers located a woman with a gunshot wound to her lower body. She was treated on scene before she was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers were flagged down nearby by a woman who admitted to being the shooter. She was detained and the handgun used was recovered.
Police said there was an altercation inside a residence in the 1600 block of Pollack Avenue between the two women. The shooter was reportedly inside the home when the other woman entered, and a physical altercation started in a rear bedroom.
The fight continued through the home until both women were separated near the front of the residence. Once outside the home, the shooter pointed a handgun she had retrieved from inside the home at the other woman.
Police said the shooter then fired one round after warning the other female not to approach her. This investigation is still on-going at this time.
