HENDERSON, Ky. — Families can get up close to a medical helicopter and vintage airplanes at Henderson Aviation Day.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17th at the Henderson City-County Airport, located at 2154 Highway 136-West. Admission and parking are free.
The Air Evac Lifeteam 46 crew will be flying in from Evansville with their helicopter and several vintage aircraft will be on display. Owners will be on hand to talk about them.
Visitors can also take scenic flights over Henderson with Don Davis Aviation, the airport’s fixed-base operator. Tickets are sold on site during the event.
Exhibitors include Evansville Regional Airport, Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport, Civil Air Patrol – Owensboro Squadron, and the Henderson County Public Library, among others. There will be food trucks on site.
“Many people have never been to their local general aviation airport,” said Emily Herron, Airport Manager. “This is a chance for families to see what happens here, meet real pilots, see interesting aircraft, eat delicious local food, and enjoy a day out at the airport.”
The event is rain or shine and will be called off only for severe weather. Any change will be posted on the airport’s Facebook page by 8 a.m. Pets are not allowed; service animals are welcome.
