CORYDON – The City of Corydon has received a Lowe’s Hometown Project Award to revitalize Chandler Memorial Park.
Constructed in 2000, Chandler Memorial Park stands as a lasting tribute to the brave men and women who have served our nation. For more than two decades, the park has served as a place of reflection, remembrance, and community pride for Corydon residents.
The vision for Chandler Memorial Park was spearheaded by Carolyn Kalnins, whose dedication, leadership and tireless efforts were instrumental in bringing the project to life.
“We are honored to receive the Lowe’s Hometown Project Award and grateful for this opportunity to invest in one of Corydon’s most meaningful public spaces,” said Corydon Mayor Ronda Smith. “This award will help us preserve and enhance Chandler Memorial Park for future generations while continuing to honor the veterans for whom this park was established.”
She added that the City of Corydon extends its deepest gratitude to Kalnins for her hard work and unwavering commitment to the community. Her vision and perseverance helped create a valued community landmark that continues to serve as a source of pride for residents and visitors alike.
Through the Lowe’s Hometown Project Award, improvements to Chandler Memorial Park will help ensure the park remains a beautiful and welcoming destination while preserving its important legacy as a memorial to the nation’s veterans, Smith said.
She added that the City of Corydon looks forward to sharing updates as the revitalization project moves forward and thanked Lowe’s for its commitment to strengthening communities across America.
