HMP&L and its subcontractor Groves Construction will begin a utility pole relocation/replacement project on Thursday that will continue over the next five to six weeks.
This project is in conjunction with and prior to the start of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Watson Lane Road Widening project.
New poles will be placed in the widened Right of Way Easement as part of Phase 1 of the project.
Phase 2 of the project will consist of the cutover and reconductoring of the power lines and removal of old poles and lines in order to make way for the subsequent road widening project.
The first phase was initially slated to begin a few weeks ago but was pushed back due to Hurricane Isaias. Local crews provided mutual aid to Florida and the Gulf Coast area.
Beginning Thursday, work will begin at Sunset Lane and work east on Watson Lane through the U.S. 41/Watson Lane intersection and end at Stonegate Drive. Crews will change out poles between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday for the next five to six weeks.
Motorists should be alert when driving through work zones and obey any and all traffic safety measures in place.
As always, work schedules may be adjusted to accommodate inclement weather.
