A 17-year-old is accused of murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Evansville earlier this month.
Ayden D. Simms, 17, of Sullivan, was arrested and charged with murder on Thursday in connection with the death of another 17-year-old. Simms is the second teen charged with murder in this case.
Evansville Police officers were dispatched to the area of Washington and Kentucky avenues at around 11 p.m. on Oct. 11.
Multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots in the area and said someone was down on the ground in the 800 block of Madison Avenue.
Officers arrived and found a 17-year-old juvenile who was deceased.
Following an investigation, Keaton M. Howard, 18, was located and taken into custody in Morganfield on the charge of murder.
Simms has been tried as an adult and will be tried as one. He is in custody at the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center.
