This week HMP&L’s ongoing utility pole relocation/replacement project will be concentrated on the U.S. 41/Watson Lane intersection.
Work will continue from the U.S. 41 intersection around Ollie’s Car Wash to the east toward Stonegate Drive on Thursday-Saturday.
Work will also include work along Brinson Drive and adjacent to Henderson Chevy. This is a very high traffic area, and HMP&L is asking motorists to take extra precautions as you enter this work zone area.
As always, weather conditions could create adjusting of work schedules.
This work is part of a five-six-week project that is part of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s upcoming Watson Lane Road widening project.
Phase 1 of this project includes installation of new poles placed in the widened Right of Way Easement. The project runs east from Sunset Lane on Watson Lane, through the U.S. 41 intersection and ends at Stonegate Drive.
Two to three crews will be working to change out poles with workdays and times between 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday over a five-to-six-week period that began Oct. 22nd.
Work Zone Traffic Control measures will be in place with one lane traffic, at times, as work progresses. The driving public is requested to drive safely through the work zone and obey all in place work zone traffic control measures.
Phase 2 of the project, which will follow, will consist of the cutover and reconductoring of the power lines and removal of old poles and lines to make way for the subsequent road widening project.
