Timmy Dunn will be the next Henderson County Judge-Executive.
Dunn, a Republican, received 7,945 votes to Democrat Les Jenkins-Mackey’s 5,407 votes, to secure the victory in what was arguably Henderson County’s most heated race.
He will succeed outgoing Henderson County Judge-Executive Brad Schneider, a Republican who has served in that position since 2016.
Schneider was appointed by former Gov. Matt Bevin in 2016 following the passing of then Henderson County Judge-Executive Hugh McCormick, a Democrat. McCormick was also initially appointed to serve judge-executive in 2010 following the passing of Henderson County’s longest serving Henderson County Judge-Executive Sandy Watkins, a Democrat. Watkins was first elected in 1994.
Joining Dunn on the Henderson County Fiscal Court will be J.R. Stanley as District 1 Magistrate, James Franks as District 2 Magistrate, Tim Southard as District 3 Magistrate, Butch Puttman as District 4 Magistrate, and Bill Stephens Starks as District 5 Magistrate. The latter three magistrates are all incumbents, while the magistrates in District 1 and District 2 are new to the fiscal court.
City of Henderson Mayor Brad Staton was re-elected Tuesday night. This marks the second consecutive election that Staton was unopposed. Joining him on the Henderson City Commission will be incumbents Kelsey Hargis and Robert Pruitt, as well as newcomers Chris Thomas and Isaac Church.
Republican incumbent J.T. Payne secured the most votes in the Kentucky State Representative District 11 race, defeating Democrat Janelle Rowena Glass. District 11 represents Henderson County.
