Man accused of shoplifting at liquor store

Henderson Police have arrested a man who threatened to shoot anyone who entered his residence after he was suspected of shoplifting at a local liquor store.

Henderson Police Department officers responded to J’s Liquor and Wine on South Green Street for a shoplifting incident on Monday. Officers spoke to the owner and were shown a video of a man stealing three bottles of liquor and running out the door.

Officers recognized the individual as Troy Young, 51, from prior incidents, and they knew he had a parole warrant.

Young was later located at a residence on Holloway Street in a locked bedroom. He said he would shoot anyone who entered and later contacted dispatch stating he would shoot police if they entered.

The Emergency Response Team was called to the scene and they surrounded the residence.  After some time, Young eventually exited the residence and ran from police.

He was captured and transported to Henderson County Detention Center without further incident for shoplifting, terroristic threatening, fleeing or evading police, criminal mischief, and a parole warrant.
